Lucy Visits the Dentist

Lucy went to the dentist for the first time this afternoon. She sat still for the polishing, but she chatted with the hygenist through the scraping part, which made it difficult to get that done in a hurry. She thought that posters on the ceiling was very funny, and now wants some posters on her ceiling at home. Her only disappointment was that her mouth wasn't big enough to fit the flims they use for the x-rays. She really wanted to see pictures of her teeth.

Anyway, here's a few pictures of the Big Cleaning.

In the chair!

"I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille..."
The "tickling toothbrush"

Lucy says, "Mirror toothbrushes are silly!"

The flouride treatment, root beer flavored, apparently.

Check out those pearly whites!

Ode to a Mammoth Zucchini

Q: How can you tell when a person has no friends?
A: They buy their zucchini at the store.
Some friends of ours gave us a few rows in their garden this year so that we could try our hands at cultivating some vegetables. We had our first "harvest" this evening, and wanted to share our bounty with all our visitors.
Check out what we brought home!

Four Radishes

"Is this food?"

One Cucumber, Two Sugar Snap Peas
A Plethora of Zucchini

Sleeping Amy and the Mammoth Zucchini

The Mammoth Zucchini will be weighing in as soon as we find someone who owns a scale. And then it's to the chopping block for a mammoth loaf of zucchini bread!

Hair Today...Gone Tomorrow

I've been needing to get my hair cut for quite awhile. It's in that pesky growing out phase, where I always look like I belong to the circus. So yesterday, I called around to a few hair places (the girl who has been cutting my hair had a baby and never came back to work).

It's amazing to me that in a town of only 7,000 people, most places required me to make an appointment, and they were all booked for at least a week.

I finally found a place that had the right price and said I could come in whenever I wanted. I told David what I wanted to do, and Lucy piped up, "I want to get my hair cut too!" So off Lucy and I went to the salon. Lucy was adamant that I go first, and that she would "go first" after me.

Here's a little photo essay of Lucy's first REAL haircut.
